Before You Use Grok Bot or OpenAI Dots, Watch This
Wispr Flow emailed me about its new Folders feature and it set me off. Not about privacy. I put everything into Claude Code and tell the internet about my whole life. This is about data custody: knowing where your business data actually lives, and whether you can get it out.
Grok Bot and OpenAI’s Dots are where the industry is going, and they’re genuinely cool. But an all-in-one agent platform keeps your routines, your memory, and your context on its computer, and the whole model is lock-in. I run my business and most of my life out of two folders on my desktop, mirrored to GitHub and backed up elsewhere, and I can point any model at them. Before you go all in on the next platform, ask two questions: do you know where your data is, and can you get it out in plain files?
