I was paying about $120 a month for three QuickBooks subscriptions and using maybe 5% of what it offered. All I really needed was my transactions and basic bookkeeping pulled into my own system, so I asked Claude for a cheaper way to do it and it pointed me straight at SimpleFIN.
It was exactly what I was looking for. It aggregates all of my financial data through a simple read-only feed, it costs about $1.50 a month, and it works incredibly well. Claude Code wired up the API and all the calls perfectly, so I was able to automate most of my bookkeeping on top of it afterward.
The service itself is an incredible value. If you want to get out from under QuickBooks and build your own bookkeeping, this is what I’d point you to.
