Gemma is the model I run on my phone. It’s what loads inside Google AI Edge Gallery on my Pixel 11 Pro XL, so I have something I can ask questions when I’ve got no service.
It’s not Gemini, even though they come from the same place. Gemini only runs on Google’s servers. Gemma is open, so you can download the model itself and run it on your own device. As of writing this I’m on Gemma 4, the small E2B version, which Google made to run on phones.
It’s obviously nowhere near what the cloud models can do. But it works with zero bars, and that’s the only job I have it for.
