I use Cloudflare heavily now. DNS, CDN, and I even used their authentication feature recently to put a login screen on some stuff. I love Cloudflare. For a long time the only thing I paid them for was domain names, and that honestly worried me because I was putting everything on a platform I wasn’t paying.
That changed in September 2026. My operating system outgrew the free database limits, so I’m on the Workers Paid plan now at $5/month. It covers all my Workers and the D1 database behind them, and for what I’m running on it that’s a steal. I actually feel better paying something. I still don’t fully get how they make money off people like me, and putting everything in one place is still a risk, but at least now I’m a customer and not just a free rider.
