Gonine NP-FZ100 Dummy Battery

If you’re going to run your camera for livestreams or long recording sessions, you need a dummy battery. It replaces the real battery and powers the camera from a wall outlet so you never run out of juice mid-stream.

I took it a step further and plugged the dummy battery into a smart outlet. The camera’s power switch stays on, but the smart outlet controls whether it actually gets power. I can say “turn on the studio” or “turn on the Sony” and the camera powers up automatically through Google Home. Big disclaimer: I don’t know if constantly cutting and restoring power to the camera is good for it long-term. I’ve been doing it for about a year at my own risk, and so far no issues. But the convenience factor is unbelievable.
