Postmark is where I landed for transactional email, and it took me a minute to get here. This isn’t email marketing. It’s the plumbing. Form notifications, receipts, password resets, the email your app fires off in the background. It just needs to show up in the inbox every single time, and that’s the whole game with transactional.
I’ve used SendGrid in the past, and it’s just old and clunky at this point. I’ve been trying to get away from it. Resend is the cooler, newer option and I wanted to like it, but the pricing model doesn’t make sense for how I actually work. My volume isn’t high, but the number of domains I need is. I’m sending for a bunch of different clients, so I need a lot of domains and not a lot of send. Resend prices for volume, and that’s backwards for me.
Postmark fits that shape. A server per client, unlimited domains and signatures, and you pay for the email you actually send. It’s been solid and reliable across the board so far, which is the only thing I really want out of something this boring and this important.
